“A Dutch euthanasia pioneer surveys the wreckage and despairs”

Here is a link to a good piece by Michael Cook exploring the views of Dr. Chabot about euthanasia in the Netherlands. Chabot was involved in an important case in the early 1990s that helped open the door to the legalization of euthanasia. But Chabot is concerned about the current practices. Cook reports: “Now Dr Chabot looks back and is horrified. Writing in one of the leading Dutch newspapers, … he says that legal safeguards for euthanasia are slowly eroding away and that the law no longer protects people with psychiatric condition and dementia.”
